Student Literature Contest

Organisers: Jitka Čejková and Olaf Witkowski

The ALIFE 2023 Organising Committee cordially invites all students to attend the ALIFE 2023 Student Literature Contest. This contest is open to all students. Students from any country and discipline are welcome.

This ALIFE 2023 Student Literature Contest has very simple rules. Students should create a literature work that must fit on an A4 page and should be readable when printed. There are no limits for the form and genre (poetry, prose, short story, graphic novel, comics, letter, drama, science-fiction, fairy tale, essay, journalism, calligram…). We only ask that the submission be written in English. Your piece must be your own work, not the work of others. Evidence of plagiarism will have your work removed from the competition. Please indicate if AI has been used.

The authors must submit their works as a single pdf (format A4) through the submission form by June 1, 2023.

It must be related to the artificial life field or the ALIFE 2023 conference theme “Ghost in the Machine”.

The literature works will be awarded in 2 categories: (i) The best literature work related to the artificial life, and (ii) The best literature work related to the ALIFE 2023 conference theme “Ghost in the Machine”.

Awards will be announced at the closing ceremony of ALIFE 2023 conference. We keep the prizes as a surprise for all awardees. The ALIFE 2023 Organisers offer a limited number of Student Conference Scholarships. Shortlisted students attending this Literature Contest can be awarded a virtual conference free ticket.
